Staff and structure

We are a registered company engaging a high professional 18 units staff. Our headquarters are located at Kampala Archdiocese but our reach is far behind the capital. Besides the operational basis at the 3 Dioceses, Kampala Archdiocese, Kasana, Luwero Diocese and Lugazi Diocese, we are active at the 9 administrative districts.

Thanks to a network of 312 Community Based Associations we can benefit of wider reach in many rural areas of central Uganda and our presence is constantly growing. By 2016 we will extend our outreach further within the afore mentioned Districts as well as activity to other districts such as Masaka, Mityana, Kiboga, Kalungu with the final goal to reach all the 5 Dioceses in the Central Ecclesiastical Pronvince inclusive of Masaka Diocese, Kiyinda Mityana Diocese.

We are also planning to set up branches, the first 2 in Mukono and Mpigi by the end of the year. Every Community Based Organizations cooperating with Wekembe is recognized by the Government as a Community Development Association at the Community development office at the District or Subcounty repectively.

Chairman of Wekembe is Winnifred Rumanzi, currently working at the Central Bank of Uganda. Managing director is Victoria Nantongo Lukwango working at Wekembe since it was founded after a successful career as Head of Luweero branch – at Micro Credit Development Trust and as Women’s Programe Coordinator – Kasana Luweero Diocese and Reintergration Assistant the International Organisation for Migration in Kampala.
